With Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister in attendance, Selangor Red Giants defeated the Homebois 4-2 in the Grand Finals of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia today (2 June). Their victory confirmed an unbeaten Season 13 for the Red Giants, who will be representing Malaysia at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where a life-changing USD 3,000,000 (~MYR 14 million) prize pool awaits. 2nd-placed Homebois will progress to the Wild Card stage, where they will compete against seven other teams for a place on the main stage.

Selangor Red Giants Coach, Michael “Arcadia” Angelo Bocado, cut an optimistic figure about his team’s chances at MSC 2024 during the post-Grand Finals press conference.

He said: “We haven’t thought much about MSC yet because we’re just enjoying the moment. But I would say that we’re really confident to go up against the top teams in the world because they’re our scrim partners also. The champions from other regions? We scrim a lot with them. Of course, I cannot say the results because it’s confidential, but I promise you that it’s very positive. So going to MSC, we’re confident that we can fight against the top teams.”

MPL Malaysia is organised by MOONTON Games and IO Esports, and supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and Esports Integrated (ESI). It is Malaysia’s longest-running and most popular esports league.

The Grand Finals was played in front of a full house at the MPL MY Arena at MBSJ Stadium in Serdang Jaya.
