REVIEW : The Falconeer (PC)

Falconeer is one of the most unique concept game that I have ever come across. The game is developed and designed by Tomas Sala and Published by Wired Productions. The game is available for different platforms like Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows. The falconer is an open world flight combat game. What is amazing about this game is the fact that it was created by a solo developer and it’s great. The work done by the developer is amazing and appreciable.

REVIEW : The Falconeer (PC)

The story of the game is quite interesting and you have to give credits to the developers as he alone managed to create this big world and an interesting story to make players hang on to the game. In the world of “Great Ursee,” there are Falconeers giant birds that are used to engage in combat with other falconeers but also to explore the world not only above the skies but under them and in the oceans. You are in combat with other Falconeers blasting them away with weapons trying to gain control of different areas. The game doesn’t follow 1 storyline as you play on and play through missions which are quite a few you will get to explore 4 worlds and other characters and you will learn about their motives. In the game all 4 stories are open and can be played in any order or even skipped the sole purpose of the game by doing this is to help you explore the same stories but with the view of other characters. The place where the game lacks is the way how the story is told, the game doesn’t offer any interesting way of walking the players through the story its just some text in the boxes with some voice acting which is not that great, and because of this sometimes it hard to get a hold of what exactly is going on in the story.

REVIEW : The Falconeer (PC)

What is even more important in an air combat game than a story is how it feels and the controls of the game. The game feels nice. It’s smooth and responsive you will literally enjoy playing this game whereas many games in the same genre have complex controls and don’t feel very good but Falconeer just hits the spot in this case. You will enjoy exploring the world and at times just flying around. There’s a lot to explore in this game not just above the clouds but on land as well. But here is the catch you will also find out that a lot of areas are just empty and there is nothing to explore as you play through the game. The controls are nice, you have to dive to gain some momentum to increase tour speed and then pull up to recharge your meter, this meter is linked to your speed. But the drawback is that even if you are flying at the maximum speed you might not feel that it’s fast enough, you will be left craving for the speed factor in this game. At times all the mission consists of is travelling to different waypoints and it can be tedious and tiring. And when you engage in dog fights there is a good amount of opponents and you will be able to lock on enemies and you can attack them with a gun. The defence mechanism like quick turn, spin around, etc. are very much effective in both ways either for defence measures or for planning an offensive move. What is interesting is that when you are engaged in battle with ships you can pick up mines that are floating around in the water and destroy the ship with its help. The gameplay is quite solid and enjoyable but at times the game just feels slow and tedious. On the contrary, you will get a decent amount of upgrades and the Variety is quite good. But the upgrades are quite expensive. You will be able to buy these upgrades with mission rewards and combat currency which can be easily missed during the combats. Hence delaying the possibility of upgrading. The game offers some easy missions like pick and delivery missions, or escort missions which will help you gain the reward or combat currency. Also, the game has a nice feature of having someone riding on the back of your falcon and these characters can help with some firepower. The combats in the game are something that will keep you on the edge of your seats.

REVIEW : The Falconeer (PC)

The game has amazing graphics. There are sections and areas in this game which will make you fall in love with it. There are some amazing moments in the game from red sunsets to alien-like landscapes which are just wow, but there are also areas in the game that are dense and there is nothing really around which is just disappointing. But all this is covered up by the fact that different landscapes, ships, etc. look breath-taking and the fact that games run very smoothly which is very impressive. The visual presentation of the game very impressive and everything animates very well. Whereas the soundtracks of the game are lagging way behind, no soundtrack will impress you or leave an impression in your mind but it works in the favour of the game so it’s a mixed idea.

review-the-falconeer-pcTo sum up, the game is quite interesting and enjoyable. But the game is priced too high I think it's currently priced at Rs 699 for the standard edition. I would recommend this game, it has nice graphics, an interesting story, and combat sessions though sound effects can use a lot of improvement still games are quite good and fun. It will take nearly 10 hours to play through the entire game. So you better start flying.
